In the Reds vs. Pirates game last night, it appeared that Aroldis Chapman broke his previous pitching speed record of 105.1 mph, with a reading of 106 mph from the scoreboard radar.

However, MLB's Pitch F/X data showed the pitch to be 'only' 102.4 mph....

The 2009 MLB baseball season began in Philadelphia with the Braves beating the World Champion Phillies 4-1.

Derek Lowe pitched a shutout for 8 innings. The Braves' homers by McCann, Jeff Francoeur and Jordan Schafer provided the runs.

The RedSox - Rays game at Fenway, and the WhiteSox-Royals game in Chicago are postponed because of poor planning bad weather.

9 year old Jericho Scott was told he was too good to pitch.

ESPN article. The right-hander has a fastball that tops out at about 40 mph. He throws so hard that the Youth Baseball League of New Haven told his coach that the boy could not pitch any more.
