9 Year Old Too Fast to Pitch?

When is a kid just too good to play?

Editors published 8/26/2008 2:12:00 PM
9 year old Jericho Scott was told he was too good to pitch.

ESPN article. The right-hander has a fastball that tops out at about 40 mph. He throws so hard that the Youth Baseball League of New Haven told his coach that the boy could not pitch any more.

40-50 mph is average speed for 9 and 10 year olds. 55 would be a faster pitcher.

What do you think is going on here? Little League politics? Parents gone wild? Safety for the children?

Political correctness has taken over youth sports.

Will he be entering the draft next year? Maybe Barry and Roger put him on steroids?
