Editors published 8/8/2008 8:33:00 AM
We are rolling out more never before seen MLB stats today.

Have you ever wondered how fast the average fastball is? Or how many sliders or curveballs are thrown compared to fastballs? How many of those wacky knuckleballs are actually thrown?

If so, our new daily Pitch Type list is for you.

Feast your eyes on the new Pitch Type list.

Did you know that the average fastball speed last night was 91.4 mph and that fastballs were thrown almost 60% of the time?

Top Gun List Update

Joel Zamaya of the Detroit Tigers threw 99.6 mph last night in the 7th inning against Nick Swisher.

That's the 2nd fastest pitch of the week after Fernando Rodney's 100.2 mph performance on 8/5/2008.
